BLUEBERRIES – This little berry packs quite a big punch. Researchers suggest that the blueberry is the most concentrated antioxident with nutrient-rich powers. They are not only high in fiber and quite tasty, but have been shown to prevent certain cancer!
PLAIN GREEK YOGURT – Might seem out of place, but Greek yogurt falls into the super food category because they are not only good for your GI tract, but they are great at boosting your immunity. Try throwing some of those blueberries on top of your yogurt!
GROUND FLAXSEEDS – There is not too much work behind flaxseeds. You can sprinkle these super gems on just about anything. These small seeds are packs full of soluble fiber, which is good for your heart, and a high quantity of Omega-3 fatty acids, which fight inflammation. Grind them up to mix in your morning smoothie or throw on that yogurt and blueberries.
QUINOA – (pronunced: Keen-Wah) I’m sure you have heard more and more about quinoa in the recent months or years, because it has become more widely known. It looks kind of funny, and you might not have any clue how to cook it or use it, but the truth is, this grain is the super star of grains. It is packed with protein and has all of your essential amino acids, fiber and complex carbohydrates (the same ones as in fruit).
KALE – Kale is an over-looked veggie, and you can do so much with it! This is one of the most antioxident-rich foods out there, that’s high in vitamin K, which helps to prevent cancer, and is very heart healthy.
