1) Eat Healthy
Going back to school or to a busier routine than you had in summer does not mean dropping the healthy eating habits you’ve been developing. Plan your meals ahead of time, shop healthy, and spend a day cooking for the entire week if necessary. Make sure you pack nutritious lunches for your kids, and minimize the junk food snacks they have access to every day. Avoid the temptation to eat out for lunch by packing your own satisfying meal. 2) Working Out
The weather will only get better through September and will stay that way for a while. Take advantage of it! Get a morning jog in before your hectic day begins, give serious consideration to an outdoor fitness group, and encourage your kids to get involved in after-school/weekend physical activities. Think about signing up for one of Florida’s many 5Ks within the next couple of months. It’s a great opportunity for you to train for something big, to have fun, and to help a good cause & to have fun. Check to see if kids can join, and make it a family event.
Most importantly, do not compromise your daily workouts now that you’ve become busier. Find the best time for you to get a workout in, even if it’s slightly shorter than your summer routine. Just keep moving!
3) Eat together
Studies show that children eat healthier when they eat with their family. In fact, the entire family is more likely to eat healthier if dinner is a time for eating together and enjoying each other’s company. Family meal time means eating homemade, nutritious meals and catching up on everyone’s day. Aim to have family dinners at least 3 times a week, and refrain from turning them into “take-out night” or “pizza night!”
4) Stick to your weekly weigh-ins
These brief appointments are meant to keep you in check. Meeting with your weight loss coach helps remind you of your goals and keep track of your progress. It is also a great time for you to discuss any concerns or successes you may have. Whether you can see it or not, weekly weigh-ins do help you to reach your goals. Make sure that you do not skip them unless absolutely necessary. Schedule them around your other obligations. You will thank us!
Always remember that some of these tips can apply to those of you who do not have children and don’t live with family. Eating healthy and being active is possible for everyone with a busy schedule. Try some of these tips with friends if you feel that they will help your weight loss journey.
