After looking at why giving up on your diet is not a good idea, you may be wondering what you can do to avoid any chance of quitting.  Below we’ve included five tips that can keep you on track.  Implement them and you’ll find it more and more difficult to give up on yourself.  Before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to reaching your goal!

 1)   Push yourself to stick to the first 3 days of your diet

As it turns out, diets become easier after 3 days.  Our bodies become accustomed to eating less in that time.  We begin to find our new journey easier.  Make it through the first three days, and you’re more likely to stick to your plan with more determination. By that logic, you might want to give yourself 3 days for every additional change you make to your eating/exercise habits.

 2)   Indulge once a week without indulging your waist line

Check yourself every week.  Every week that you come closer to your goal, allow yourself a moderate portion of something you love.  Something you love to DO, that is!  Every week, reward yourself for your hard work by doing the things you love most be it Shopping, watching a movie, going to a game Psychologists suggest this as one way to keep you from focusing too much on what you’re NOT doing and what may be (at times) dragging you down.

 3)   Get a support system

Find someone to give you the moral and emotional support you need.  A spouse, friend, family member, and/or weight loss coach anyone you know will help keep your morale high.  Make sure they’re updated on your progress, obstacles, and worries.  Get them to talk to you every now and then to keep you in check and remind you of your goals whenever needed!  Knowing that someone is cheering you on will make it that much easier to keep up with your goals!

 4)   Set smaller goals

Its been proven!  Setting small goals within your ultimate goal makes it easier for you to stick to your journey and succeed.  Once you’ve divided up your goal into sub goals, you can focus on one at a time.  That way, you reach a goal every so often, making you realize that you actually are inching towards the finish line.

 5)   Don’t feel bad!

If you have a slip-up at any point in your diet, waste no time fretting over yourself.  You’ll only push yourself deeper into misery, and you’ll find it a great deal harder to get back on track.  If you make a mistake in your plan, just dust yourself off and move on!  No one is perfect, and a diet is not the word of law.  As long as your overall actions are pointing you in the right direction, you’ll be fine!

Of course, there are many other ways to help keep you on track.  If you’re interested in more protective barriers or would like some that are more suitable to your taste, talk to your weight loss coach.  She will be glad to give you the tips that work for you!
