CoolSculpting
Frequently Asked Questions

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure that utilizes cryolipolysis technology. Through this procedure fat cells are targeted and eliminated without damaging any of the overlying or surrounding skin. This FDA approved treatment is effective for getting rid of visible fat bulges and stubborn fat areas.

CoolSculpting kills fat cells by exposing them to cold temperatures. When exposed to a certain temperature, fat cells will freeze. Once frozen, the fat cells die and your body naturally eliminates these dead cells within 1-3 months. This is called cryolipolysis and it results in up to 20%-25% fat reduction in the treated area. The cold temperatures do not effect any non-fat cells in the surrounding areas, or in the skin cells in that covering the area containing fat, it only effects the fat cells. This allows the procedure to be non-invasive and still very effective.

Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. The CoolSculpting fat reduction procedure is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Unlike gastric bypass surgery, the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese. It is, however a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Request a one-on-one consultation with us to determine if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.

The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions needed, and your ultimate goals. We will help create a customized treatment plan, in person, that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget.

We will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. The length of your session will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. We may schedule additional sessions in order to meet your goals.

Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), your body processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

CoolSculpting treatments are non-surgical. With any surgical treatment, like liposuction, you will likely need to be put under anesthesia for the procedure and you’ll have a much longer recovery time afterwards. With the non-invasive CoolSculpting treatment, this is not the case.

Although your CoolSculpting results may not happen as fast or be as dramatic as the results from liposuction or other invasive procedures, you will still be able to significantly reduce unwanted fat. If you’re looking for a pain-free, risk-free solution for fat reduction, CoolSculpting is the best option.

CoolSculpting can be used to treat visible fat bulges in the following areas:

  • Submental area
  • Flanks
  • Abdomen
  • Upper thighs
  • Glute areas
  • Back areas
  • Upper arms
  • Under the chin

As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and intense cold. This soon dissipates. Many people read, watch videos, work on their laptop, or even take a nap during their treatment.

The CoolSculpting procedure is FDA-cleared for the flank (love handles), abdomen, and thigh. With over one million CoolSculpting treatments performed worldwide, it is proven to be a safe and effective treatment for non-surgical fat reduction.

You won’t need to do much to prepare for your CoolSculpting treatment, however you will need to notify your healthcare practitioner of any medications or supplement that you are currently taking. They will let you know if any of those things could interfere with your treatment. You’ll want to wear soft, comfortable clothing to your treatment session and eat a light meal or snack beforehand. Limit any beverages or caffeine intake directly before your treatment. CoolScultping treatment sessions can take up to an hour. If you want to bring something to do during your session, make sure it is something that doesn’t require very much movement, like watching Netflix, reading a book, or even taking a nap.

Yes, you can. The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Often times, patients return to work after their CoolSculpting session is over.

You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. But your body will still flush out fat cells and continues doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.

No supplements or pills are required and you do not have to adopt new diet and exercise habits. Many patients feel more motivated to take care of themselves after their CoolSculpting treatment. It is as if they get a second lease on their body and want to start anew again by taking even better care of themselves.

Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, take even better care of themselves. However, if you do gain weight, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas.

You may experience temporary side effects after your treatment. Immediately after treatment, there may be some redness or firmness in the treated area along with mild bruising and a slight stinging feeling. After one or two weeks you may experience slight swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, skin sensitivity, or itching. These effects generally will only last for a few days.

Other possible side effects include:

  • Late-onset pain
  • Frostbite
  • Darkening of the skin
  • Vasovagal symptoms
  • Subcutaneous induration

All of these mild symptoms may cause temporary discomfort but will typically resolve themselves within a few days. If you are concerned about any pain or discomfort you experience after treatment, contact your healthcare practitioner to find out if any additional treatment for these symptoms is needed.
