Hyperpigmentation
Uneven skin tone, dark patches, and discoloration caused by sun exposure, hormones, or inflammation. Cleared with targeted light and laser energy.
Targeting hyperpigmentation at the source for a clearer, even complexion
Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns we treat. Dark patches, uneven tone, and discolored areas can make the complexion look older and less radiant, and they tend to worsen without sun protection and proper care. A VISIA skin analysis measures both surface and deeper brown-spot pigment, giving an objective starting point for treatment.
Hyperpigmentation forms when melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) become overactive in response to UV exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation, or aging. The result is localized deposits of melanin that appear as brown, tan, or gray discoloration on the skin's surface or in deeper dermal layers. It is not limited to the face: see body hyperpigmentation for the underarms, inner thighs, and bikini area.
At Florida Aesthetics and Wellness, we use a targeted approach, combining energy-based devices including BBL HEROic, MOXI, and HALO laser, to address both existing discoloration and the cellular triggers that create new pigmentation.
How we treat hyperpigmentation
Targeted light and laser energy to break up existing pigmentation, even skin tone, and prevent new discoloration from forming.

BBL HEROic
BBL HEROic (BroadBand Light) delivers intense pulsed light energy that selectively targets melanin deposits. Dark spots and discolored areas darken over 7–10 days then flake away, revealing clearer, more even skin. It also targets vascular redness and stimulates collagen for a comprehensive rejuvenation effect.

MOXI
MOXI is a gentle, non-ablative fractionated laser ideal for patients who want visible improvement in hyperpigmentation with minimal downtime. It targets early and superficial pigmentation changes and is an excellent maintenance option or complement to BBL or HALO treatments.

HALO
HALO is the world's first hybrid fractional laser, combining ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in one pass. It resurfaces the skin to clear deep and superficial hyperpigmentation while also improving texture, pore size, and fine lines, making it ideal for patients with widespread discoloration and multiple skin concerns.
