Common Questions About CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction procedure that utilizes cryolipolysis technology. Through this procedure fat cells are targeted and eliminated without damaging any of the overlying or surrounding skin. This FDA approved treatment is effective for getting rid of visible fat bulges and stubborn fat areas.

CoolSculpting kills fat cells by exposing them to cold temperatures. When exposed to a certain temperature, fat cells will freeze. Once frozen, the fat cells die and your body naturally eliminates these dead cells within 1-3 months. This is called cryolipolysis and it results in up to 20%-25% fat reduction in the treated area. The cold temperatures do not effect any non-fat cells in the surrounding areas, or in the skin cells in that covering the area containing fat, it only effects the fat cells. This allows the procedure to be non-invasive and still very effective.

CoolSculpting can be used to treat visible fat bulges in the following areas:

  • Submental area
  • Flanks
  • Abdomen
  • Upper thighs
  • Glute areas
  • Back areas
  • Upper arms
  • Under the chin

The CoolSculpting procedure is FDA-cleared for the flank (love handles), abdomen, and thigh. With over one million CoolSculpting treatments performed worldwide, it is proven to be a safe and effective treatment for non-surgical fat reduction.

Yes, you can. The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Often times, patients return to work after their CoolSculpting session is over.
