CONDITION: UNWANTED HAIR

Unwanted hair growth can come in many shapes and sizes. It is often caused from a hormonal imbalance that allows darker, coarse hair to grow where you would normally only grow very light, fine hair that is nearly invisible. There are many options for treating unwanted hair growth like shaving, waxing, or even plucking. However, these methods tend to be uncomfortable and don’t give permanent results.

At Florida Aesthetics we offer Laser Hair Removal, a long lasting option with short treatment time and no downtime!

Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Hair Removal

For the vast majority of people, laser hair removal is not painful, but it does depend a little bit on your tolerance for pain. We have many patients who report that the treatment feels similar to snapping a rubber band on the surface of the skin. You feel it, but it does not cause pain. It is possible if you have a very low pain tolerance that you may feel minor discomfort.

Yes, absolutely it is. The U.S Food and Drug Administration has approved Laser Hair Removal as a safe procedure and that has been in place since 1997. However, it is worth noting that this procedure is only safe when you are under the care of a licensed practitioner. At Florida Aesthetics, all of our technicians are licensed and fully trained to safely administer this treatment.

For many people, the results are permanent. Every body is unique however, and for some people follow up treatments may be needed roughly every six to twelve months. It depends upon your hair type and your skin type.

There isn’t an exact age minimum requirement, but we generally recommend to wait until after you have completed puberty before considering laser hair removal treatments. Females should not begin laser hair removal treatment until after they have begun their monthly menstrual cycle. If we had to list a minimum age, we would say fifteen is the earliest that a person would want to begin the laser hair removal process.

You can have laser hair removal on any part of the body with the one exception being the eyelids. Our most popular and common treatment areas are on the legs, back, arms, chest, upper lip, bikini area, and underarms, but other areas can be treated too. Some people choose to have laser hair removal on their eyebrows, forhead, scalp, nose, ears, and other areas on and around the face.
