BOTOX CAN TREAT UNDERARM SWEATING TOO
Is it just sweat, or something more? Up to 201 days of drier underarms!
Uncontrollable excessive underarm sweating is annoying and can be embarrassing. The medical term for this condition is called Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is caused by stimulation of the sweat glands by nerve endings in the brain. Here at Florida Aesthetics and Wellness in Brandon, FL, we treat hyperhidrosis of the underarms and hands with Botox. Botox is a safe and effective inhibitor of the production of sweat.
BOTOX FOR UNDERARM & HAND SWEATING
Botox has been FDA-approved for treating the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when topical medicines used on the skin do not work well enough in people 18 years and older. It may also be used “off-label” to reduce sweating in other areas, such as the hands, feet, and face. You should try Botox injections if deodorants, prescription antiperspirants, or special powders, did not help in reducing your excessive sweating.
HAVE A QUESTION?
WE HAVE ANSWERS.
The good news is that you can go back to normal life as soon as you finish your Botox for sweating treatment. Your injector may ask you to come back to check in on you and to do some touchups if needed.
Serious side effects of Botox injections are extremely rare and may include:
- Problems swallowing, speaking, or breathing, due to weakening of associated muscles, can be severe and result in loss of life. You are at the highest risk if these problems are pre-existing before injection. Swallowing problems may last for several months
- Spread of toxin effects. The effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas away from the injection site and cause serious symptoms including: loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, loss of bladder control, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing
It will take between two and seven days for you to stop sweating in the treated area. It can take two weeks for total dryness.
Please keep in mind that you may need multiple treatments in the future as that the effect of Botox is not permanent. For underarm sweating, your Botox treatment may last anywhere between four to fourteen months. You may need to repeat your treatment in about six months for the hands and feet.
