ROLE OF GROWTH HORMONE IN THE BODY

Growth hormone (GH) plays a key role in an individual’s metabolism and their ability to adapt to metabolic changes within the body (known as “metabolic flexibility”). As a far-reaching signaling molecule, growth hormone has impact on many processes such as:

  • Physical/sport performance
  • Lean body mass
  • Bone density
  • Energy usage
  • Weight management and body composition
  • Deep wave sleep
  • Memory and cognition
  • Recovery from exercise and injury (connective tissue repair)
  • Immune function

As we age or we experience an illness, our natural production of growth hormone declines. Declining levels of growth hormone reduces the body’s metabolic flexibility and normal metabolism is interrupted. This can result in reduced physical stamina or performance, decreased muscle mass, poor energy or body composition, reduced sleep quality and cognitive health, poor recovery from exercise/injury, and decreased immunity.

Growth Hormone – Peptide Support

A number of peptides are now available to support growth hormone production by stimulating the pituitary gland (found at the base of the brain) to signal the increased production/release of growth hormone by the body. GH peptides are meant to supplement an individual’s natural growth hormone levels.

Sermorelin Growth Hormone

A synthetic peptide made of 30 amino acids
Its sequence is: TYR-ALA-ASP-ALA-ILE-PHE-THR-ASN-SER-TYR-ARG-LYS-VAL-LEU-GLY-GLN-LEU-SER-ALA-ARG-LYS-LEU-LEU-GLN-ASP-ILE-MET-SER-ARG-NH2
Its molecular formula is: C149H246N44O42S

Sermorelin is a fragment of human growth hormone, made of its first 29 amino acids. Sermorelin stimulates growth hormone secretion in the anterior pituitary gland.
